With Volumetric perimetral protection we mean a protection extended to all the surrounding space in a three-dimensional way. How is that possible? Thanks to LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), the evolution of RADAR technology (Radio Detection and Ranging).
A LiDAR device, as the name suggests, uses light to measure objects, to evaluate its speed and location. Why use a LiDAR in your security system?
TECHNOLOGY EVOLUTION

During years security systems have always evolved, including microwave perimetral protections, however those provide only information about the intrusion happened and nothing else, making strictly necessary the use of an undefined number of CCTV devices with video analysis
Also in this case you won’t have the same precision as LiDAR provides. For example, with video analysis you can’t get information about intruder dimensions, and in low-light condition it doesn’t work as it should.
A LiDAR-based security system solves these problems.
Thanks to the infrared light emitted by the LiDAR itself is possible to recognize with extreme precision the location of the intrusion. That’s just the beginning: indeed, those systems use AI and deep learning, so they can recognize humans from animals, vehicles and drones, everything with LiDAR’s measurements. This opens the doors to a new concept of security and possibilities, for example, you can define an area where only a maximum number of people can enter, or can be occupied by vehicles, but not people and send an alarm to the operator when a person gets into this area.
ADVANTAGES
Light is the main advantage of this kind of product, which makes LiDAR invulnerable to any kind of interferences, bad weather conditions and low light environment, if paired with a Speed dome camera is possible to track the intruder with the context camera and follow him all the time.

There are different kinds of LiDARs on the market, everyone with different specifications adapt to many applications.
For example, in an open environment is suggested the use of a 360° LiDAR, which allows to guard the entire field with a working range of 120 meters at least.

In indoor environment you can choose for an all-in-one solution like the Leica BLK-247, which has two LiDARs, four RGB context cameras and two thermal cameras, allowing to guard up to 30 meters away, which is everything you would need for a high-level security of your assets.
But there’s more about, in fact you can integrate LiDARs protection system with the security system already in use in your properties, which allows to considerably reduce the number of CCTV devices used in your system, working costs and upgrading costs, taking your security to whole new level.
